Friends of West Park’s (FOWP) annual Music in the Park event is set to return “bigger and better than ever” this weekend.
The event which hopes to bring the community together for a relaxed afternoon of music in the park will return on Sunday, August 29 from 12-6pm. Music in the Park will showcase a range of new and established local talent with something for everyone, from classical covers to self penned songs, catchy crowd pleasers to Britpop and soul. Along with the main acts on the Bandstand Stage, there will also be a Freedom Road Stage this year next to the park cafe, providing a platform for members of Freedom Road Collective to perform between bandstand acts. Freedom Road stage will also feature young local talents Claudia Hewan and Eleanor Hodgson, with performance times yet to be confirmed.
Chair of the FOWP group, Georgina Petty said: “Funded by Do it For East Yorkshire in conjunction with Strange Reality Music, Friends of West Park volunteers are proud to present a fantastic line up of live music in our lovely park. “Thanks to all our fantastic acts and volunteers who are so excited about this brilliant event. Visit the marquee for hand sanitisers, information about volunteering and any queries. Bring your chairs, picnic blankets, grab a cake and a cuppa from the cafe and enjoy!” FOWP would also like to remind attendees that parking is limited on site and to respect local residents. The lineup is subject to change due to Covid and people are asked not to attend the event if they feel unwell. First Aid and lost child enquiries will be held in the marquee towards the bandstand.
Friends of West Park are thrilled to announce the return of their annual Music in the Park event. (19-08-88 SU)
